Freedom in Christ Week 7

'Seven Steps to Freedom'

STEP ONE: COUNTERFEIT VS. REAL

Dear Father from above,
Please forward to the front,
Everything I have done,
To do with the occult

With knowledge or without,
Open the wisdom case,
Dismiss that which is false,
And counterfeit to grace.

STEP TWO: DECEPTION VS. TRUTH

With faith I know the truth,
And it will set me free,
Deceived when Satan ruled,
And longed inside of me

The devil had no truth,
None valued or with worth,
He spoke in his own words,
And lies where lies are birthed

Can't claim I have no sin,
How foolish that would be,
The truth is it's within,
The falsehoods neighbourly

God raised me up with Christ,
And seated me right here,
In his heavenly realms,
Christ Jesus knows I'm there

The Spirit's on His way,
He'll guide me like a son,
His voice a multitude,
He'll tell me what's to come

God know's what's in my heart,
He knows my anxious thoughts,
Finds out what I can fix,
And tells me what I ought.

John 8:44 NIV

1 John 1:8 NIV

Ephesians 2:6 NIV

John 16:13 NIV

Psalms 139:23-24 NIV

STEP THREE: BITTERNESS VS. FORGIVENESS

For richness of His heart,
Do I show Him contempt?
He's patiently beside
And leads me to repent

My father looks from high,
And treats us all the same,
Forgiving my brother,
He loves me more by name.

Romans 2:4 NIV

Matthew 18:35 NIV

STEP FOUR: REBELLION VS. SUBMISSION

Rebellion is a sin,
To disobey is wrong,
Like worshipping of fame,
Where arrogance belongs

If I reject God's word,
I'll be the same as Saul,
And be no longer king,
My freedom will be walled.

1 Samuel 15:23 NIV

STEP FIVE: PRIDE VS. HUMILITY

Pride is before a fall,
A haughty spirit goes,
If I'm to follow Him,
Must have my cross and show

No place for ambition,
My vain conceits don't count,
Instead I'll be humble,
Put others on the mount.

Proverbs 16:18 NIV

Matthew 16:24 NIV

Philippians 2:3 NIV

Romans 12:10 NIV

STEP SIX: BONDAGE VS. FREEDOM

I choose to clothe myself,
With Jesus as my robes,
And not dwell on the flesh,
To give it what it hopes

Peter requests restraint,
My sin will burn like coal,
With lusts which wage in war,
Against my very soul

Sin can't be my master,
I should just let it go,
Evil is not my king,
I have to tell it 'no'

No part of me's for sin,
No tool for wickedness,
I give myself to God,
To life from lifelessness

Each and every part,
Is there for doing right,
Not bondage but freedom,
This step's within my sight

What lets the devil in?
What footholds can he find?
With fighting stopped without,
I'll win the fight in mind

I'm constantly alert,
My thoughts are sharp and lead,
The lion's prowling round,
But can't have me to feed

Confessing all my sins,
He's faithful and He's just,
Forgiving them from me,
And cleansing all my lusts.

1 Peter 2:11 NIV

Romans 6:12-13 NIV

Ephesians 4:27 NIV

James 4:1 NIV

1 Peter 5:8 NIV

1 John 1:9 NIV

STEP SEVEN: CURSES VS. BLESSINGS

Dear Lord I'm thanking You,
For being my defence,
My wish is to obey,
And honour my parents

But I can say out loud,
Those errors circumspect,
Which sure my parents did,
Do not on me reflect

What sins my birth gave me,
I'm stepping freely from,
Renounced in Jesus' name
Forsaken, they are gone.
