Suffering for Doing Good
    (from 1 Peter 3:8-22)
Love and show compassion,
Don't repay when someone wrongs,
Never trade an insult,
Bless those who curse along
Keep your tongue from evil,
Don't try to deceive,
Seek peace and pursue it,
Do good in what you see
God will watch the righteous,
He listens to their prayers,
Faced away from evil,
He doesn't favour nayers
Who is it can harm you,
If always you do good?
But even if you suffer,
You're blessed and understood
Never feel you're threatened,
What bad can you come to?
Fear is all behind you,
Let Christ be king for you
Always give an answer,
To everyone who asks,
Tell them why you're hoping,
Be respectful in this task
Keep the clearest conscience,
To protect yourself from rails,
Goodness is in Jesus,
Slander shames and fails
Suffering doing good things,
Beats hiding from the light,
'Cos if it is what God wills,
Then it is always right
Christ, who also suffered,
Just once for every sin,
Was put to death in body,
Alive, His Spirit wins
Then He went proclaiming,
To all kept in their jails,
To those throughout the ages,
As Noah's ark set sail
There, only a few people,
Were saved by water's waves,
And this is why we're baptised,
To symbolise our ways
We've chosen to be holy,
Our prayers always land,
Saved by resurrection,
Of Christ at God's right hand
Our father is in heaven,
With angels by his side,
All powers fall unto Him,
It's He who will decide.
